  • St. Luke's Episcopal Church 525 East 7th Street Long Beach, CA, 90813 United States (map)

Join us for this interfaith workshop rooted in the legacy of Rev. James Lawson—civil rights icon and pioneer of nonviolent resistance. Whether you're standing with workers, protecting your immigrant communities, protesting unjust policies, or applying nonviolent principles in everyday life, this session offers perspectives and practical tools for action.

This event is part of a series exploring faith-rooted nonviolent activism and workshopping de-escalation techniques.

What to expect:

  • A foundational understanding of nonviolence from diverse sacred texts and faith traditions

  • A brief history of nonviolent direct action in social movements

  • Hands-on De-escalation and Resistance Training: Learn practical techniques and role play on how to remain grounded and diffuse tension in high-stress situations

Admission is free, but please register to attend so we can prepare food. Free on-site parking.
