The Left Coast Forum serves as a gathering place for those who believe democracy must be participatory, not performative—and that real change comes from the bottom up, not the top down.
Through convenings, workshops, and public dialogue, the Left Coast Forum fosters collaboration across movements fighting for racial justice, economic equity, environmental sustainability, and human rights. Our mission is to bridge ideas and action, connecting thought leaders with grassroots organizers to strengthen the collective power of the progressive left.
Rooted in Los Angeles but reaching far beyond it, the Left Coast Forum is a catalyst for solidarity and strategy—where ideas become movements and movements become momentum for change.

No More Cash for Trump's Terror Troops
812 actions taken, 88 needed to reach next goal
For weeks now, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) funding bill continues to be negotiated. Congress missed the deadline to pass a DHS bill, and now we are in a partial shutdown. It is imperative that our demands be met and that our families be protected.
We need you to continue making calls to Congress, urging them to vote NOT on any DHS funding bill or package until:
No more dollars for ICE, CBP, or detention centers.
Repeal of the $170 billions handed to ICE and CBP through the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), and redirect those funds back to community needs.
ICE out of our airports.
Free all the children held in immigration detention.
Stop immigration enforcement based on racial profiling, warrantless arrests, and at sensitive locations.
Ensure every detainee in immigration detention has access to bond hearings, comprehensive medical care, parole for those with high medical needs, and unrestricted access and oversight by Members of Congress.
This fight is about ICE and CBP’s lawlessness and the 44 deaths of immigrants and U.S. Citizens at the hands of ICE and CBP. Last summer, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (H.R. 1), allocating $170 billion to DHS and other agencies to dramatically increase immigration detention and enforcement over the next four years. ICE and CBP received $85 billion and $70 billion, respectively. The bill included minimal oversight on agency spending. As a result, ICE and CBP are now the highest-funded law enforcement agencies in the U.S., with budgets exceeding the annual military spending of 23 countries. Under the current proposed DHS funding bill, ICE will still get $5 billion, with little to no reforms to ICE and CBP enforcement.
We urge lawmakers to reject any spending deal that bankrolls harm, and to those who voted in favor of dollars for enforcement, know that WE WILL NOT FORGET.
Upon signup you will receive script and phone numbers for the congress persons to contact.

Call to Action: Funding Request
Represent LA Budget Action Alert:
Increase Funding for Legal Services for Immigrants
Tomorrow is the last chance to give public comment at the LA City Council in support of the $3 million budget ask for RepresentLA. Below are key actions to engage today and tomorrow. If you have any questions, please contact Norma Palacios at npalacios@caimmigrant.org.
Background:
Represent Los Angeles (RepLA) is a landmark program that builds on the success of its pilot program the Los Angeles Justice Fund. RepLA and the LA Justice Fund programs have strengthened the City and County of Los Angeles’s safety net for immigrants by providing legal consultations and representation to tens of thousands of people since 2017. This program ensures immigrant communities are not left behind and denied their due process as they navigate the complex federal immigration system. The urgency of RepLA’s services is greater than ever as the Trump Administration has implemented violent, aggressive immigration enforcement resulting in high numbers of people being detained by ICE.
The Mayor's proposed budget allocated $1 million to RepresentLA. Last week, the City Council's Budget and Finance Committee proposed an additional $500,000 for a total of $1.5 million contribution from the City for RepresentLA. This proposed funding is not enough to meet the moment. We're calling on the City to increase this funding and fund RepresentLA at $3 million to support its vital work.
We encourage you to attend the City Council meeting tomorrow to voice your support for increased funding for RepresentLA. If you are not able to be there, please be sure to submit a public comment by/before the end of day.
Please note that public comment will be taken in-person only and we recommend arriving before the scheduled start time to ensure that you are able to secure a seat in the hearing room and sign up to provide public comment.
Action 1: Give In-Person Public Comment

Location: 200 N. Main Street, Room 340 (John Ferraro Council Chamber)

Action 1: Give In-Person Public Comment
Good morning City Council members,
My name is [name], I’m a resident of LA Council District [district ] or work in City Council District [district]
I urge you to stand with immigrant communities and commit to funding RepresentLA at $3 million. While we appreciate the Budget and Finance Committee recommendation for an increase, the proposed amount is not sufficient to support our communities.
ICE raids continue to target immigrant communities and the demand for deportation defense support has never been greater than now. LA must continue to fund RepresentLA’s essential legal services, so people’s rights are upheld.
RepresentLA has proved to be successful, serving diverse populations throughout the years, including survivors of labor trafficking, asylum seekers, and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.
I urge you to continue these services at a time when they are most needed by increasing funding to $3 million for RepresentLA in the City’s proposed budget for 2026-2027. Thank you.
Other suggested talking points:
RepresentLA is critical to ensuring due process and access to legal representation for immigrant communities in Los Angeles, especially for those who would otherwise not be able to pay for legal defense.
RepresentLA ensures that immigrant Angelenos have access to legal representation, and prevents families from navigating a complex immigration system alone—often with life-altering consequences.
RepresentLA has made significant strides in its mission, serving over 22,000+ people since 2022, including survivors of labor trafficking, asylum seekers, and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Subject line: Request to Fund RepresentLA at $3 million in FY 26-27
Dear Councilmembers,
My name is [your name] and I am writing to express my strong support for RepresentLA and to urge you to fund RepresentLA at $3 million. As an Angeleno deeply committed to ensuring the rights of immigrant communities in Los Angeles, I believe that continuing the work of RepresentLA is critical.
RepresentLA has made significant strides in its mission, serving over 21,000 people since 2022, including survivors of labor trafficking, asylum seekers, and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces. This legal aid program has been key in providing critical legal services to vulnerable and diverse immigrant communities who otherwise would not be represented. The City of Los Angeles has already defended thousands of Angeleno families against family separations through the LA Justice Fund and now RepresentLA since 2017, increased funding will only help further this commitment.
Under the Trump Administration, federal immigration enforcement raids and activity have heightened fear in immigrant communities, showcasing that it is more critical than ever to expand and strengthen RepresentLA’s essential services.
I urge you to include $3 million for RepresentLA in the City’s proposed budget for 2026-2027. This is critical to prevent any interruption in the crucial services that RepresentLA provides to our most vulnerable immigrant communities at this extremely difficult time for our communities. Your voice as the leader of the City of LA holds powerful influence and respect. I urge you to support funding for RepresentLA at $3 million.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
Join us to discuss the impact of voter suppression on our communities
Please support one of our Sacred Resistance congregations in this effort. Democracy is under attack at its very foundations of ONE VOTE, ONE PERSON. Results are already coming in following the obliteration of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 as states rush to redraw legislative districts BEFORE the midterms.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the California Voter ID initiative has made it on to the November ballot. Holy Faith Episcopal Church is hosting a free public meeting to raise community awareness of VOTER SUPPRESSION through presentations from invited ACLU advocates following a screening of the short acclaimed documentary "Suppressed and Sabotaged: the Fight to Vote".(2022-2024). Please plan to attend, register, and post the attachment widely.

COALICION PRIMERO DE MAYO LOS ANGELES
International Worker’s Day
Dear Sacred Resistance Friends and Family,
May Day is here — and so are we! This Friday, Sacred Resistance joins the great tradition of workers, immigrants, coalition partners and justice-seekers everywhere who take to the streets every May 1st to say: we are not afraid, we are not silent, and we are not going anywhere. This year's march comes at a critical moment. Our immigrant neighbors are under relentless attack. The government is weaponizing federal law enforcement to terrorize communities. And still — still — our people rise. We march because resurrection is not just a theological claim. It is a political one. Here is everything you need to know to join us this Friday:
JOIN THE MARCHING DELEGATION
Sacred Resistance will have a visible, faith-rooted presence in the May Day march. Come wear your collar, your stole, your Sacred Resistance t-shirt — bring your voice, your body, your witness. Details to be confirmed — watch for final logistics. Plan to march with us. We will meet at the James Lawson/UCLA Labor Center building on the west side of Park, between Wilshire and 7th. Here is a link to the route:
Also, I have seen the program and the list of speakers before the march. They will go from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Just an FYI.
HOME DEPOT STOP ALONG THE MARCH
There will be a pause at the Home Depot at 1675 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90017. Just a pause to make some noise. We will return later to give a bit more!
FIFA ACTION AT US BANK TOWER ALONG THE MARCH
FIFA LA Headquarters is currently renting space at the US Bank Building, 633 W 5th St., Los Angeles, CA 90071 — using Los Angeles as its base for the 2026 World Cup. During the march, CLUE and Sacred Resistance will lead a stop at FIFA headquarters to demand that FIFA get out of the ICE business. We will make a loud, disruptive, joyful, soccer-inspired noise — vuvuzelas welcome, soccer chants encouraged — denouncing ICE's presence at the World Cup and demanding that FIFA take a stand for human dignity before this summer's tournament.
Bring your voice. Bring your vuvuzela. Or other noise-maker. Bring your love for the beautiful game and your fury at its co-optation by enforcement. ⚽
HOME DEPOT IMMIGRATION ACTION AFTER THE MARCH - DRIVE THE POINT HOME!
Gathering at 1:30 PM at SEIU-721 Headquarters, Wilshire & Union. Home Depot has been complicit in ICE's unjust, mean-spirited immigration enforcement actions at their stores. Enough is enough. It is time to demand that Home Depot change its ways — or face the consequences. There will be an in-person meeting and training at SEIU-721 at 1:30 PM to agree on the action, its tactics, and hoped-for outcomes. Others will join from or during the march at a later point. Please let us know if you can be present for this action. Reply to this email or contact us directly
THE MAY DAY MARCH NEEDS PEACEKEEPERS! CAN YOU HELP?
Commitment: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM on Friday. Peacekeepers are the heart of safe, dignified public witness. If you are called to serve in this role — holding space, de-escalating tension, protecting participants — we need you this Friday.
LAST PEACE-KEEPING TRAINING - TOMORROW NIGHT
If you or members of your team plan to serve as Peacekeepers, please register for and attend the final training:
• Date: Tuesday, April 29, 2026
• Location: SEIU 721 — 1545 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90017 - in person
• Time: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
• This is a bilingual training (English/Spanish)
Please share this training with your teams and encourage anyone serving as a Peacekeeper to attend. This is the last opportunity before the march. Peacekeeper Sign-Up Form: https://forms.gle/bivxvtTCftxHQi9i8
YOUR OPTIONS THIS FRIDAY
• March with the Sacred Resistance delegation
• Join the FIFA action: loud, joyful, soccer-inspired witness at US Bank Tower (633 W 5th St)
• Join the Home Depot action: gather 1:30 PM at SEIU-721, Wilshire & Union
• Serve as a Peacekeeper (8 AM – 3 PM commitment; attend training April 29 if you haven't already)
The movement needs every part of the body — those who march, those who keep the peace, those who show up for targeted actions. Come as you are. Bring who you can. Do what you are called to do. The arc of the moral universe is long — but we are called to bend it, together, on May Day and every day.
In solidarity and faith,
Jaime
