LOS ANGELES MAY DAY COALITION
International Worker’s Day
Dear Sacred Resistance Friends and Family,
May Day is here — and so are we! This Friday, Sacred Resistance joins the great tradition of workers, immigrants, coalition partners and justice-seekers everywhere who take to the streets every May 1st to say: we are not afraid, we are not silent, and we are not going anywhere. This year's march comes at a critical moment. Our immigrant neighbors are under relentless attack. The government is weaponizing federal law enforcement to terrorize communities. And still — still — our people rise. We march because resurrection is not just a theological claim. It is a political one. Here is everything you need to know to join us this Friday:
JOIN THE MARCHING DELEGATION
Sacred Resistance will have a visible, faith-rooted presence in the May Day march. Come wear your collar, your stole, your Sacred Resistance t-shirt — bring your voice, your body, your witness. Details to be confirmed — watch for final logistics. Plan to march with us. We will meet at the James Lawson/UCLA Labor Center building on the west side of Park, between Wilshire and 7th. Here is a link to the route:
Also, I have seen the program and the list of speakers before the march. They will go from 10:30 – 11:30 am. Just an FYI.
HOME DEPOT STOP ALONG THE MARCH
There will be a pause at the Home Depot at 1675 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90017. Just a pause to make some noise. We will return later to give a bit more!
FIFA ACTION AT US BANK TOWER ALONG THE MARCH
FIFA LA Headquarters is currently renting space at the US Bank Building, 633 W 5th St., Los Angeles, CA 90071 — using Los Angeles as its base for the 2026 World Cup. During the march, CLUE and Sacred Resistance will lead a stop at FIFA headquarters to demand that FIFA get out of the ICE business. We will make a loud, disruptive, joyful, soccer-inspired noise — vuvuzelas welcome, soccer chants encouraged — denouncing ICE's presence at the World Cup and demanding that FIFA take a stand for human dignity before this summer's tournament.
Bring your voice. Bring your vuvuzela. Or other noise-maker. Bring your love for the beautiful game and your fury at its co-optation by enforcement. ⚽
HOME DEPOT IMMIGRATION ACTION AFTER THE MARCH - DRIVE THE POINT HOME!
Gathering at 1:30 PM at SEIU-721 Headquarters, Wilshire & Union. Home Depot has been complicit in ICE's unjust, mean-spirited immigration enforcement actions at their stores. Enough is enough. It is time to demand that Home Depot change its ways — or face the consequences. There will be an in-person meeting and training at SEIU-721 at 1:30 PM to agree on the action, its tactics, and hoped-for outcomes. Others will join from or during the march at a later point. Please let us know if you can be present for this action. Reply to this email or contact us directly
THE MAY DAY MARCH NEEDS PEACEKEEPERS! CAN YOU HELP?

YOUR OPTIONS THIS FRIDAY
• March with the Sacred Resistance delegation
• Join the FIFA action: loud, joyful, soccer-inspired witness at US Bank Tower (633 W 5th St)
• Join the Home Depot action: gather 1:30 PM at SEIU-721, Wilshire & Union
• Serve as a Peacekeeper (8 AM – 3 PM commitment; attend training April 29 if you haven't already)
The movement needs every part of the body — those who march, those who keep the peace, those who show up for targeted actions. Come as you are. Bring who you can. Do what you are called to do. The arc of the moral universe is long — but we are called to bend it, together, on May Day and every day.
In solidarity and faith,
Jaime

Caravan and Serenade

Serenata for Adelanto: Come Sing Out Against Detention Cruelty on March 14
Out in the Mojave Desert, in Adelanto, Calif., about 100 miles from Los Angeles, sits a concentration camp for immigrants. A private company has the contract to keep more than 2,000 people caged there.
The Adelanto ICE Processing Center is technically not a prison. The human beings inside are not there to be punished for any crimes. Most have never been charged with or convicted of any crimes.
They are victims of the Trump Administration’s brutally random campaign of mass arrests and mass deportation. They have been rounded up and sent to this privately run prison warehouse. There are others like it around the country, and there soon may be many more. Administration is getting ready to spend billions of dollars to create a vast network of immigrant prisons.
This brutality and inhumanity cannot stand. On Saturday, March 14, hundreds of allies of immigrant rights will gather outside the prison for a “serenata,” a serenade, to honor and support all the immigrants who have been unjustly locked away in Adelanto, some for years.
The National Day Laborer Organizing Network is among the organizations leading a caravan from Pasadena to Adelanto that day. Families of detained immigrants will speak. A concert will begin at 4 p.m.

Walk for Peace LA
Dear community,
Inspired by the 2,300 mile Walk for Peace by the Theravada Monks, we are organizing a walk for peace in Los Angeles. The monks are estimated to arrive in Washington D.C. on or around February 10. We will walk on Saturday, February 14, 2026 in Los Angeles to show our gratitude to the monks and to offer healing to our own community.
The “Walk for Peace LA” will be in the same spirit as that of monks walking to D.C. It will be a silent, mindful walk without signs or chanting. We will gather at Pershing Square in Downtown Los Angeles at 9:00 am for mindful movement, meditation and introductions. The walk will begin at 10:00 a.m. and will end at Vista Hermosa Park. It is a 1.2-mile walk.
We are preparing a list of participating organizations, which will include Deer Park Monastery and Dharma Vijaya Buddhist Vihara.
We warmly and respectfully invite you and your community to join our walk.
With our sincere gratitude,
Walk for Peace LA Organizing Team
We would love to connect you to the organizing team. If you have any questions, please reach out to sanghahousela@gmail.com.
Target - Demand ICE OUT!
Join us in a sacred call for Target to stand with people over a police state. Actions in Pasadena, Burbank, North East LA, Downtown LA, Mid-City LA, and Brea.
Brea: 5-7 pm
Burbank: 5-7 pm
Downtown LA: 5-7 pm
Mid City LA: 5-7 pm
North East LA: 5-7 pm
Pasadena: 5-7 pm
Tell Target: ICE OUT NOW
Join us in demanding Target:
Publicly call for an immediate end to the ICE “surge” into MN and for ICE & Border Patrol to leave the state.
Affirm Target as a 4th Amendment Workplace. (Exercise their 4th Amendment rights and publicly post signage denying entrance to immigration agents who do not have signed judicial warrants as required by law, as well train staff on how to respond when immigration agents arrive at stores.)
Publicly call to shut down Trump’s ICE. Lobby congress for no additional federal funding for ICE in the upcoming Congressional budget and ICE should be investigated for human and Constitutional violations of Americans and our neighbors.
Demand any federal officer who kills or harms a civilian be held legally accountable. That starts with legitimate investigations and charges by local officials.
On January 8th Customs and Border Protection assaulted and seized two US citizens while they were working a shift at the Richfield, MN Target store. Target is Minnesota’s leading corporate citizen. It is the 4th largest employer in the state. Minnesota’s sports teams play in stadiums and jerseys with Target’s logo on them. Where Target leads, others follow.
We need Target to stand with Minnesotans against these attacks.
Vote NO on DHS Funding
Last week, the House passed a bill giving ICE billions more dollars. It is immoral to fund the separation, persecution, and death of our people. The Senate votes this week on funding billions of dollars for ICE.
We must act now!
EMAIL YOUR SENATORS NOW and tell them to:
VOTE NO on any additional funding for DHS this year.
Get ICE out of our communities and demand a pause on ICE activities pending a thorough bipartisan investigation of their actions that lawmakers must create. We demand meaningful regulation, transparency, and accountability for ICE, including clear limits on enforcement tactics, independent investigations of use-of-force incidents, and protections for civil liberties.
We stand with Minnesota and demand that ICE and CBP officers in both cases must be charged and prosecuted. FBI evidence must be released to Minnesota law enforcement.
Congress must investigate!
